To further enhance business, Pacific
Rubber joined Alaska Rubber Group in
2013 as an employee-owned company.
“This allows us to maintain our reputation
for great customer service and
high-quality products while extending
our network of stores and knowledgeable
staff across the Pacific Northwest,”
said Mike Merritt, Pacific Rubber’s general
manager.
At present, Pacific Rubber currently has
14 employees. The Alaska Rubber Group
has a total of 10 locations in Washington
state and Alaska with approximately
150 employees.
“We sell across all 50 states, and
internationally into Canada and China.
Primarily we service Alaska and the Pacific
Northwest,” said Merritt.
Notable projects
Pacific Rubber has been involved in numerous
pile driving projects over the decades.
One of the most notable projects was the
record 98-foot-diameter pile that was
driven in the South China Sea by First
Harbor Engineering Company of China and
American Piledriving Equipment (APE)
near Hainan Island for the new international
airport for Sanya, China. Construction on
this project began in 2017.
“Pacific Rubber provided hose and fittings
for APE’s ‘Dodeckakong.’ This was a
massive 12 APE model 600 vibros mounted
together working in sync. We shipped multiple
containers of hydraulic hose assemblies
totaling over 20,000 feet, or 3.8 miles
of hose,” said Merritt
Merritt says Pacific Rubber was also
involved in the previous record for driven
pile – 72 feet driven by APE’s ‘Octokong’
in 2011 for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau
seaway project.
