foundations from a previous building.
“Removal of these obstructions required an extensive excavation,
concrete demolition and backfill operation,” she said. “Had we
continued to work in this area without the additional exploration,
the excavation of these mat foundations could have compromised
previously installed ground improvement elements.”
Throughout her career, Emanuel has always been naturally curious
and made a point of asking questions. As a field engineer, she
loved talking with crew members about their jobs, learning what
was important to them and understanding their role as one of the
“moving parts” on a job site. She’s always taken the opportunity to
learn from those around her.
