EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
have expressed a strong desire to get back to an in-person event,
and we can't think of a better way to accomplish that goal than
through the IFCEE conference. We want to encourage everyone
to register and secure their hotel room for IFCEE as soon as
practical to ensure availability.
We want you to know that PDCA is already working on plans
for the 2022 PDCA Annual Conference, scheduled for February
2022, in Phoenix, Ariz. We are sure that this will be an event you
won't want to miss so please include it on your calendar and
in your plans. There will be much more information about the
PDCA 2022 Annual Conference in the coming months.
Education is an essential service provided by PDCA each
year. Currently, there are six webinars scheduled for the benefit
of PDCA members in 2021. These webinar programs cover
various technicalities related to the pile driving industry. We
encourage members and anyone interested in attending these
programs to visit the PDCA website, navigate to “Conference
and Events” and then to “PDCA 2021 Education Webinar Series”
for detailed descriptions and registration information. PDCA
members can attend these education programs at no charge,
and non-members can participate for a nominal fee.
While visiting the PDCA website, we would also like to
encourage everyone to review and download the Working
Platforms Recommended Industry Practices guide available at
no charge. This significant publication is provided to help create
a safe working environment for deep foundation contractors.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2021 PDCA
Project of the Year Awards. This is the premier award program
for PDCA. Don't miss this opportunity to have your project
prominently recognized. The application is available on the
PDCA website, and the submission is free for association members.
Submit your application today for as many projects that
qualify under the land, marine, associate/engineering affiliate
or even international categories.
Every PDCA member has the opportunity to serve on a
Standing Committee. Your participation in one or more committees
is vital to the ongoing activity, programs, education and
success of PDCA. It is easy to become a member of a Standing
Committee. Either contact the committee chair or PDCA staff.
The PDCA Standing Committees perform significant work on
behalf of the organization. This includes producing and publishing
six editions of PileDriver magazine each year, education
opportunities and information, safety-related information, contract
review, coordination between the PDCA chapters, membership
recruitment, technical code and specification review,
working contract review, ongoing representation for associate
members and much, much more! Please consider joining a
PDCA Standing Committee in 2021 and see how valuable your
membership becomes. You won't regret it!
PDCA is fortunate to maintain support from outstanding
members that allow the association to remain healthy and solvent
even during uncertain times. The effort to grow the PDCA
membership is ongoing and essential. PDCA staff works hard
to provide information to member prospects, but they can't do
this alone. Every existing member is encouraged to be part of
the membership recruitment process. There is little question
that every PDCA member knows someone that could benefit
from being a member. We are asking you to contact them and
start the process. Contact the PDCA staff to provide follow-up
information and help the prospect complete the process to
become a new member. Word of mouth advertising is the most
effective means to increase membership. Your active participation
in this critical aspect of association involvement is very
much appreciated.
The association just celebrated its 25th year in existence. A
question that could be rightly asked is: what's next? With all the
new opportunities outlined above, PDCA is poised to see excellent
results as we move forward. PDCA is looking forward to
growing its membership. By increasing the membership, PDCA
will also increase its geographic reach. When the geographic
reach is increased, PDCA will grow its influence.
These things are not mutually exclusive from each other but
are integral to the organization's overall existence and success.
As we step into a new year, it is evident that there are significant
opportunities ahead for engagement, growth and success. We
intend to work very hard to take advantage of every opportunity
to make this a great year. Please join us for an exciting ride! t
