“What we want to do with our QC is supply the equipment as
intended,” said Wattenberg. “But if something does break down, we
want to get it working again immediately and make sure the same
problem doesn’t occur on other machines.”
He explains the company has a warranty form available on its
website, and all feedback from customers is logged into the main
database for follow-up and resolution. That’s where the teams at
Dieseko Group and PVE Equipment USA have a chance to really
make a difference.
“Quality stems from the people you have in place at your organization
and how they deal with quality and strive to be the best.
We have a high focus on equipment quality, but we also make sure
employees understand the importance of quality and rental equipment.
They check it when it comes back from a job to make sure it’s
working well. And it’s re-checked before it leaves our yard.”
Another big milestone in the company’s QA/QC journey was
achieving TUV/DNV/Lloyd’s certifications for offshore vibration
drilling applications, complete with its patented upending process
for positioning long piles. Installing offshore foundations using
vibratory technology has a number of advantages, maintains
Dieseko, including short pile driving times, reduced costs, accurate
positioning and lower noise levels.
“Offshore certification was definitely something in a different
league,” said Wattenberg. “We went from playing in the NFL to
playing in the SuperBowl. We had been working offshore since the
beginning of the 1980s, but around 2011 we really focused in on
developing our pile upending technology.”
This required a completely new QA/QC procedure and testing
process from engineering to completion. For instance, the
company’s PVE 300MU upending vibro hammer required the
construction of a test frame to achieve certification under the
worst conditions.
“Innovation has given us a competitive advantage and we have
proven it,” said Wattenberg. “We’re the biggest manufacturer of
vibratory hammers worldwide, but we are growing so fast because
of innovation.”
Forced lubrication on its vibratory hammers allows for work
in both high and low temperatures, and Dieseko’s condition monitoring
system for hydraulic power packs and vibratory hammers
permits the company to monitor equipment performance virtually
and respond quickly if something is wrong.
“It is GPS controlled; a data card sends the info to a portal.
We can use the data to plan predictive maintenance, as well. We
all know that maintenance is a necessity, but if you get signals in
advance, you can at least plan it – you can do preventative maintenance
in time and avoid big problems.”
In the U.S., PVE Equipment USA is backed by the products
and services of its parent, Dieseko Group. With a company-wide
commitment to quality and an emphasis on innovative solutions
and problem solving, Wattenberg says excellence is always the
daily goal.
“As a company, we do not want to give in on quality – this is
throughout our organization, from beginning to end of the customer
experience.” t
