EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
into IFCEE 2021, for the people involved,
and to the partner organizations that
poured themselves into the process,
thank you! Your efforts are noticed and
greatly appreciated.
Now let’s bring this conversation closer
to home for PDCA. Everything that we
have just discussed about why IFCEE 2021
is now a success also applies to just about
everything that PDCA does daily with and
for members. It would be easy for a PDCA
member to say that the organization has
a full-time staff and that they will take
care of everything. That is simply not the
case. The PDCA team has a vital role,
but it is the member support, member
ideas, member creativity, member experience
and the member elbow grease that
makes the organization work. It is many
hands, the members’ hands, all pulling
in the same direction, working together
toward a common goal, expecting a good
result, and sticking to the task at hand that
makes a great organization. PDCA has all
the potential to be a great organization.
The following excerpt is from a memorandum
to all PDCA members written in
June 1995 that reported that the board
had met early in the month and “officially
voted to create our new organization.”
The name “Pile Driving Contractors
Association (PDCA) was chosen because
it is direct and to the point.” The word
“National” was left out of the name
because there are members from other
areas worldwide. Significantly, the memo
continued with this statement:
“In order for the Association to succeed
and grow, we need:
• Your heartfelt commitment to the
• Your financial support
• Your support in recruiting new
• Your recommendations for projects
• Your recommendations for leaders
• Volunteers to be involved in the work
Congratulations to all of us on the
birth of our new Association. We now
have a vehicle with which we can build
and expand the pile driving market.”
These words are no less accurate today.
PDCA is built by members, for the benefit
of members, to help members succeed. We
encourage every member to get involved
and help continue this effort that was
fashioned over 25 years ago to expand and
improve the pile driving market. There is
a place in PDCA for every member to participate.
Pick a spot, step in and help make
PDCA a great organization. When we work
together, good things can happen! t
