situated in the middle of the Falgout Canal – protects more than
100,000 people from flooding. In July 2019, the gate was utilized
in preparation for Hurricane Barry and prevented seven feet of
storm surge from devastating houses and businesses within the
local community. The Falgout Canal Flood Control Structure
has already proven to be a critical addition to the Morganza to
the Gulf Hurricane Protection System, protecting the citizens of
Terrebonne Parish for years to come. t
