that exists between the industry partners. These relationships, in
large part, are created and maintained by being visible.
Remaining visible allows PDCA to build community amongst
its members. Visibility reinforces our purpose and opens new
opportunities. Being visible does not diminish our character. On
the contrary, remaining visible strengthens the organization and
provides direction.
Last year we launched the PDCA Store to help improve visibility.
The products that are available through this new venture
serve several purposes. We have said that our efforts to provide
logo products is really not about selling a t-shirt or making money,
even though those are some results. The effort is really about
being visible and maintaining our visibility to encourage strong
member support.
PDCA members are on the front line and provide a certain
amount of visibility just by their existence. Members should be
informed, empowered, engaged and activated. When PDCA members
remain visible, they provide the fuel that propels the organization
forward.
We have incorporated many different methods to remain visible
over the years. Word of mouth is probably the most effective
means to accomplish this important goal. However, in recent
times, electronic media is the preferred method so PDCA is stepping
up its efforts to use social media, website and email visibility
tactics. Each method mentioned has limitations which makes it
even more important to use as many electronic processes that are
available and realistic. Trying to engage people in what we are promoting
is the challenge. There are so many channels of information
available today that it is a challenge to break through and be
recognized and be visible, even when the individual has given their
permission and wants to see the information we are presenting.
Visibility in the electronic world is more critical than ever but it is
also the most challenging to remain effective. Sometimes we feel
invisible because of the amount of chatter and clatter and chaos
in the electronic environment. This provides even more impetus to
step up our visibility efforts in all things electronic.
It is extremely important for PDCA to remain visible to its
members, its counterparts and the industry in order to accomplish
the goal of representing the driven pile.
