Looking forward to
working for Manitoba
farmers in 2019
TBY BILL CAMPBELL, KAP PRESIDENT his is my first message
in Manitoba’s’ Farmers’
Voice since taking
office at the end of
July after Dan Mazier’s
resignation to pursue
public office.
I’d like to thank Dan for his many
years of service to KAP – as one of the
founding members of the young farmers
committee, as chair of numerous other
committees, as vice-president, and as
president for three-and-a-half years.
Dan took us though many issues –
from water management to taxation –
but it’s his tireless work on rail transpiration
that sticks strongly in my mind. His
efforts, along with those of other stakeholders,
culminated in the passing of Bill
C-49, The Transportation Modernization
Act, which addressed many issues we
have long been lobbying for.
Now it’s my turn to take up
the torch.
I’ve been involved with KAP at the
district level, on the board of directors,
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
and as vice-president. I’m a fourth-
generation farmer near Minto, with
2,640 acres – 1,700 of them seeded to
annual crops. I also run a purebred
Limousin cattle operation.
I believe that farmers should be
proactive in all aspects of agriculture
and that they must be knowledgeable
about all factors that affect their livelihood.
I’m committed to agriculture,
and that’s why I’m involved with KAP.
With regard to the transportation
file, I’m encouraged by the discussions
