CEO MESSAGE
You are Not Alone
Let’s face it. No one was expecting the events of March 2020.
In early March, I was working with my team to deliver our
annual National Food & Beverage Management Conference
in Toronto. In conjunction with the Ontario Branch planning
committee, we welcomed 146 registrants with a record number
of tabletop displays – 23! The conference included visits to the
National Club, Toronto Hunt, Rosedale Golf Club and Toronto
Club. Our members networked and participated in relevant industry
education.
Fast forward two weeks and the world is a very different place.
We are all trying to find our new normal ( for the time being at
least) where we manage the effect of how COVID-19 has infiltrated
our personal and professional lives. Whether it be settling yourself
into work from home, pre-planning meals for two weeks just to be
able to order groceries online or, in too many cases, dealing with
the stark realities of what a closed club may mean in terms of layoffs,
an unusually high number of requests for temporary leaves of
absence and member resignations , please know that we are all in
this together.
The CSCM community is still here for you and now more
than ever. We have created an online resource page, accessible at
www.cscm.org/member-services/covid-19.html, that is updated
daily with valuable industry links. In addition, we are hosting
a weekly conference call so that members can share information
with each other. We are currently considering some creative solutions
to ensure we continue to offer great education to our members.
I expect to be able to report on those initiatives shortly.
We know these are difficult times. Please reach out and connect
with us or your fellow members, I can guarantee you that you
are not alone.
Best wishes in health.
