At the end of 2018, PDCA unveiled a facelift to our website,
PileDrivers.org, with the sole purpose to better assist our
membership in reviewing resources that the association has
to offer.
Today, we are working diligently to get more information into
our members’ hands. The Communications Committee is at the
heart of these efforts, not only with continuing to populate past editions
of PileDriver on the website, but we are also moving forward
with advocacy.
In 2019, we hope to launch four grassroots letter-writing campaigns,
which we’ve labeled “call-to-action,” that each of you may
want to consider taking part in.
It is a very easy way to get our voices heard and our organization
visible to those who represent us.
To participate, we have made it very easy.
On the PileDrivers.org website, visit “Issues and Advocacy” to
reach out directly to your federal and state political representatives
with one pre-written letter.
Of course, for those who advocate for driven pile on a regular
basis, you are welcome to edit your letter as this letter comes from
you. The tools PDCA has chosen will automatically pair you based
on your zip code with the correct email addresses for your federal
and state political representatives.
There are more exciting areas of “issues and advocacy” that
PDCA is providing to you. For example, you can access various live
feeds on the website. Based on key words, the Communications
Committee works inside a web-based tool that finds details on transportation
at both federal and state levels. These feeds include news
and policy details on rail, roads and bridges to pier work. Not all
posts are 100 percent relevant to PDCA member objectives, but as
we move forward in coming months, we will continue to monitor and
tailor this information. You can review these feeds under the “Issues
and Advocacy” tab at PileDrivers.org.
Get involved!
We are always looking for members who want to help. If you
have ideas you think can help PDCA better advocate for driven
piles or relationships we should explore, please send an email to
Pollyanna Cunningham, Communications Committee chair, at
pcunningham@iceusa.com, and Matt Bisbee, PDCA staff liaison on
the Communications Committee, matt@piledrivers.org.
Our PDCA advocacy efforts are in their infancy but the plan
focuses on forming important partnerships with other leading industry
groups like ARTBA, AEM, ASCE and many more.
In the PDCA Board Strategic Planning Session for 2019,
PDCA wants to partner with like-minded groups in order to
advance the driven pile industry’s visibility. The PDCA board wants
to work with groups that are at the forefront of transportation and
infrastructure funding and plans on showcasing our strength as a
tested and proven foundation method.
The board not only wants to partner with other industry
leaders, but also truly wants to further partnerships with our
existing and new members to best advance our visibility in the
foundation industry.

We will be posting four call-to-actions this year and hope you
visit the website often to participate. t
