IN MEMORIAM
Charles K. Ellis 1935 – 2018
By Stevan A. Hall
It is with great sadness that PDCA announces the passing of Charles K. Ellis.
Charlie passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at the age of 83. Charlie
grew up in Beatrice, Neb., and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1953.
He then attended and graduated from the college of engineering at University of
Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a member of the gymnastics team and a graduate
assistant coach. Charlie served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
Charlie worked as a civil engineer building bridges for Beatrice Construction and
BRB Contractors.
Charlie was not only one of the original founders of PDCA, but also served
as its chairman from 2000- 2001. Before and after his chairman position, Charlie
remained a longtime member of PDCA. Charlie was retired when I first came to
PDCA in 2005, but he maintained his membership as a retired member through
2018. It was very evident to me that PDCA meant a great deal to Charlie. Every
year he would either write or call me and tell me just how proud he was of PDCA
and the organization he was a part of for so long.
Charlie will be remembered by many for his contributions not only to
PDCA, but also to the pile driving industry. Charlie, we will miss you – rest
in peace. t
