tion. This project included the construction of five oil storage tanks
(each 225 feet in diameter and 65 feet high, capable of holding up
to 330,000 barrels of oil), ESB building, multi pig receiver building,
and manifold.
“Each tank foundation posed a different challenge when it came
to soils,” she said. “During my time on this project, I experienced a
range from construction of simple ring wall foundation to controlled
modulus columns … the joy of standing on top of such a large storage
tank cannot be put into words.”
Nagarajan began her current role with Skyline Steel in September
2016. She is responsible for promoting the company’s current and
new products as well as their applications in the engineering and contracting
communities in the Northeast US. She is also responsible
for technical project development and management and identifying
strategic opportunities for pipeline development and sales growth.
Volunteer Work
In October 2016, she joined the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI)
and became involved in the Women in Deep Foundations Committee,
where she became the treasurer and also coordinated the Student
Outreach Program, which introduced spreads awareness and advocates
for engineering majors at schools. Her involvement with the
committee inspired her to start the Metro NYC Women in Deep
Foundations Group, which brings together designers and contractors
to discuss non-technical topics to enhance and help the professional
growth of current and future engineers. Nagarajan is also the co-chair
of the Deep Foundation Institute India (DFII) Support Committee,
which supports the growing Indian foundation construction industry
in different levels.
