A Foundation for the 21st Century
PDCA and DFI’s joint seminar
PDCA and DFI conducted the 5th Annual Driven Pile: A
Foundation for the 21st Century conference on Tuesday,
Sept. 9, 2014 at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capital
in Austin, Texas.
The one-day conference featured lectures by industry
experts on advancements in the use, design and testing of driven
pile solutions. Presentations topics included information on
quality control, testing and evaluation, cost-effective case histories,
value engineered solutions, innovative applications and
techniques, advancement in equipment and materials, practiceoriented
research, design methodologies, ethics and ethical
practices and sustainability.
Over 70 participants attended the conference from the
geo-construction and geo-engineering industries, including
a significant and youthful contingent of students and professors
from the University of Texas, Department of Civil
and Environmental Engineering. Conference participants were
treated to a continental breakfast, buffet luncheon and morning
and afternoon breaks as part of the networking and social time.
PDCA wants to thank our exhibitors, which included

Technologies, Geo-Instruments, Inc., L. B. Foster Company
and Pile Dynamics, Inc. PDCA would also like to thank J.D.
Fields & Company, Inc., who sponsored a post-conference meetand
greet at a local pub just down the street from the conference
hotel. Contractors, engineers, professors and students enjoyed
the opportunity to socialize, network and mingle while enjoying
appetizers and a beverage. t
