▼▼PDCA OF FLORIDA CHAPTER
The Florida Chapter conducted
a meeting Sept. 18 at the Best
Western Bay Harbor Hotel
in Tampa, Fla. The featured
speaker was Gerry McShane
with Service Steel Warehouse.
Gerry led an interesting discussion
on how to design waterfront
steel structures for maximum
service life. He reviewed the factors that contribute to
steel corrosion and the means and methods at our disposal to
mitigate those factors. With proper consideration in the design
phase and proper installation in the construction phase, steel
structures can provide long, durable service lives even in harsh
environments.
The Florida Chapter’s next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov.
18th at the Ramada Conference Center in Jacksonville, Fla.

BBQ, which included brisket, turkey and sausage, plus all of
the traditional fixings, such as pinto beans, tortilla chips, corn
pudding, iced tea, soda and cold beer.
The featured evening guest speaker was Hal Doiron,
Ph.D. He worked for NASA and was involved in various projects,
including the Apollo missions, the International Space
Station and Mars Rover. In 2013, Doiron organized “The Right
