PDI’s QC testing products are commonly used on many deep
foundations projects worldwide. Similarly, GRL is often contracted
to conduct a variety of engineering services or consultations.
Recent projects include the Tappan Zee Bridge, the Corpus
Christi Liquefaction LNG and the Port of Tacoma Pier 4 project,
just to name a few.
“In 2017, we significantly updated both the PDI and GRL
websites for an enhanced user- and mobile-friendly experience,”
Fischer said. “The new websites are our most significant marketing
tools, showcasing products, services, events and case studies,
such as the recent projects already mentioned, as well as technical
specifications and a robust reference library. Every marketing
campaign directs the audience to our website(s) for additional
information and/or the appropriate specialist contact.”
Born in Akron, Ohio, and raised in both Ohio and Texas,
Fischer attended the University of Akron where she earned
a Bachelor of Science degree in business and organizational
communication. She attributes her success to one main thing:
strong teamwork.
“A marketer cannot be successful on her own,” she said. “I
attribute my successes throughout my career to my strong beliefs
in teamwork, listening to customers (both internal and external)
and executing strategies with confidence.”
And although she is new to pile driving, she really likes the
innovation that the industry focuses on.
“In the next few years, I can see further development and
integration of the Internet of things (IoT) such as using the cloud
to see data and analytics in real time,” she said. “Wireless technology
eliminates the need for cables or wires and improves data
quality. It has been in the industry for about 10 years, increasing
the speed of dynamic testing solutions. The IoT further enhances
efficient collaboration and service-oriented paradigms to the deep
foundations industry and provides real-time data analytics and
troubleshooting, ultimately saving time and money on the job.”
Fischer joined PDCA in early 2017 and says the people she
has met through the organization – and their passion for the
industry – is what she likes most.
“I am also the Associate Member Council chair, and a
newer member of both the Communications Committee and
the Education Committee. The Associate Member Council is
working to promote the value of PDCA to contractors with an
engagement program that we’re hoping to kick off at PDCA’s
2019 Annual Conference. In addition, we’ve implemented a new
approach to focusing on associate members with a couple of
member recognition programs that will be announced in the next
few months. The committee is very excited to start executing
these programs.”
And if that weren’t enough, Fischer and her husband Scott
are parents to two sons and a daughter – Parker, 24, a recent
MBA graduate from Ohio State University; Logan, 21, a junior
at the University of South Carolina, studying international business/
accounting; and Peyton, 19, a freshman at the University of
Kentucky, studying pediatric dietetics.
“In our spare time we like to travel, hike trails and watch or
attend Cleveland and Ohio State Buckeye’s sporting events.”
As for her career goals, she said simply: “I truly enjoy working
for PDI and GRL. It’s exciting to be a part of pioneer organizations.
My ultimate career goals are to help lead both companies
to realize their true growth potential.” t
