PDCA of the Northeast Chapter
The PDCA of the Northeast Chapter held its quarterly dinner
meeting on Wednesday, March 21, at Iberia Peninsula
Restaurant in Newark, N.J. The program included a presentation
on Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring Trends – State
of the Practice, by Joel Volterra, P.E.
The presentation included a review of the typical process that
design professionals go through in understanding the job and developing
a site-specific instrumentation and monitoring program that
suits a particular project or that should suit the project. Elements
that were reviewed include: paper studies of existing nearby structures,
pre-construction structure condition surveys, vibration and
deformation baseline monitoring, use of PDA and CAPWAP and
review/refinement of monitoring criteria. Subjects were discussed
through various case histories.
PDCA of the Gulf Coast Chapter
The PDCA of the Gulf Coast Chapter hosted its second quarterly
dinner meeting on April 26, in Baton Rouge, La. The next chapter
dinner will be held on August 16, in Biloxi, Miss.
