Driven Pile Technical Seminar
The PDCA of South Carolina Chapter held its biennial Driven
Pile Technical Seminar on Thursday, March 29, 2018. The program
was held at the Altman Athletic Center at The Citadel in
Charleston, S.C.
The program is always anticipated by contractors, engineers,
architects and owners, and was at capacity again this year.
The program included five industry presentations on the following
topics: Permanent Steel Sheet Pile Walls for Underground
Parking Garages; Research, Design, and Construction: The
Evolution of Column Supported Embankment Technology in the
U.S.; Radical Changes to Precast Pile Design Provisions; Large
Diameter Open-End Piles: Applications and New Developments;
and Static and Seismic Design of Piles for Downdrag. The seminar
began at 8:30 a.m. and concluded at 3:30 p.m., with attendees
receiving 5.5 professional development hours (PDH) for their allday
attendance.
The chapter will host its quarterly dinner meeting on May 1,
at the Town and Country Inn, 2008 Savannah Highway,

12th Annual Oyster Roast
The chapter held its annual oyster roast event on Friday, Jan. 19,
2018 in the yard of Palmetto Pile Driving. The chapter thanks
everyone who sponsored, helped and attended and looks forward
to seeing you again in 2019!
