GEOCOALITION MEETING
PDCA will be represented at the upcoming June 2018 GeoCoalition
meeting by president Larry Moore, vice president Scott Callaway
and executive director Stevan Hall. This year’s meeting will
be in Park City, Utah, hosted by the Geoprofessional Business
Association (GBA).
Associations at the table will be PDCA, ADSC, Geo-Institute
of ASCE, DFI, AEG, USUCGER and CGS. The purpose of getting
these similar associations together under one roof is to discuss

PDCA hosted a very successful meeting last year in Ponte
Vedra, Fla. The GBA is working on an equally impressive agenda
and PDCA has already provided topics for discussion amongst the
GeoCoalition members.
▼▼COX INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION
OF LANGDALE FOREST PRODUCTS ASSETS
Cox Industries has announced that it completed the acquisition of
certain assets of Langdale Forest Products, one of the Southeast’s
largest wood utility pole manufacturers. The acquisition includes
both the purchase of Langdale production facilities in Sweetwater,
Tenn., and certain other operating agreements related to Langdale’s
facilities in Valdosta, Ga., and Chauncey, Ga.
“We are very pleased to have consummated this acquisition
between both of our companies,” said Cox Industries CEO and
president, Mikee Johnson. “Like Cox, Langdale is a widely respected
producer of quality wood utility poles and marine construction
products, and we welcome their employees and their expertise
into our rapidly growing business. We look forward to continuing
to serve Langdale’s customers with a wide range of products
and services while extending our production footprint into new
geographic areas.”
▼▼GROUP CONTRACTORS COMPLETES
MASSIVE PROJECT
GROUP Contractors completed the massive 15,000 square-foot
pre-engineered metal Motor Control Center building in Freeport,
Texas, ahead of its liquidated damages deadline despite material
delays, problematic site constraints and extraordinary concrete
finishing requirements. The structure was necessary to complete
the chemical giant’s $2-billion MET Solution Technology
Polyethylene Production facilities as a part of their Gulfstream
expansion program.
▼▼HEATHER AUDET JOINS GZA
GZA, a multi-disciplinary firm providing environmental, geotechnical,
ecological, water and construction management services,
announced earlier this year that Heather Audet, P.E. has joined the
company as a senior project manager.
Audet brings close to 20 years of experience in geotechnical
engineering and heavy underground design. Her recent experience
includes working as an assistant project manager for the
Black River Tunnel in Lorain, Ohio, and project manager for the
Riverbed St. Pump Station in Cleveland, Ohio. In her new position
with GZA, Audet will focus on public transportation projects.
A licensed professional engineer in Maryland, Ohio,
Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, Audet earned a Bachelor of
Science degree in ocean engineering and a Master of Science degree
in civil engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology. She is
a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Women
in Transportation. t
